Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, together with Guizhou PIX Moving, launched the trial operation of a free autonomous shuttle service on Sept 24. This aims to address the inconvenience of inter-terminal transfers caused by the long distance between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. As of Oct 13, the shuttle service had served a total of 10,323 passengers.

Two L4-level autonomous Robobus vehicles have been deployed to provide transfers for passengers, with dedicated waiting platforms set up outside Gate 13 of T2 and Gate 19 of T3.

During the trial operation, passengers can board the shuttle on a hail-and-ride basis. Later, they will be able to complete real-name verification and ride the vehicle via QR code scanning. The buses depart two minutes after the first passenger boards, greatly improving the efficiency of passenger transfers between terminal buildings.

The shuttle route stretches about 400 meters, with each vehicle carrying a maximum of six passengers. While it takes around 10 minutes to walk between terminals, the ride itself only takes 2 minutes.

This eases the burden of long-distance walking for air-rail transfer passengers, those with heavy or cumbersome luggage, elderly passengers, and people traveling with infants. The shuttles also offer shelter from the sun and rain, enabling a more comfortable cross-terminal journey.
