Guiyang's Huaxi University Town launched an innovative "dynamic bus" service on March 25.

"Since the launch of the service, it has largely addressed pain points of conventional fixed‑route public transport such as limited coverage and long waiting time," said Luo Mingyi, a staff member from the Huaxi University Town administrative committee.

To date, more than 70 QR‑code booking stops for "dynamic bus" have been set up across the university town area, with more being added.

Backed by a big‑data‑powered intelligent dispatching platform, the "dynamic bus" service adopts an operation model featuring online booking, on‑demand vehicle dispatching, and point‑to‑point precise pick‑up and drop‑off. It caters to short‑distance transport demands among university campuses, industrial parks, and rail transit stations.

"The dynamic bus has completed more than 20,000 orders. It fills service gaps left by conventional public transport, greatly improving the utilization efficiency of public transport resources," said Luo.

Targeting issues raised by teachers and students such as insufficient waiting stations and messy surroundings along bus routes, relevant authorities conducted on‑site visits to universities including Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Guizhou Normal University, and Guizhou University of Finance and Economics, and carried out comprehensive inspections and optimizations for bus stops on major arterial roads. To date, eight standardized bus platforms have been built to upgrade passenger-waiting facilities.

Huaxi University Town will conduct regular visits and research to gather travel demand data, improve public transport service levels, and create a better travel environment for teachers and students.
