Guiyang strengthens safety for rural students' commutes

The journey to school for many rural students in Guiyang's Nanming district has now become safer, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the local transportation enforcement team.

Rural areas in Nanming, home to numerous schools and a large student population, have faced challenges as parents often resort to private cars, carpooling, or even illegal minivan services.

To address these issues, the team has launched a campaign aimed at improving traffic flow and addressing the lack of public transportation. As part of this initiative, customized school bus services have been introduced, with seven special routes established for schools such as No 26 Middle School, Bailang Primary School, and Bagongli Primary School, providing tailored solutions for each institution.

The team has also strengthened its crackdown on illegal operations around schools. By combining fixed-point inspections with mobile patrols, they are focusing on eliminating illegal taxis, unlicensed ride-hailing services, and unauthorized minivans. This year alone, dozens of illegal and non-compliant vehicles have been apprehended.

The team has initiated a legal awareness campaign at local schools and kindergartens, featuring case studies, videos, and Q&A sessions, aiming to cultivate a culture of legal awareness and promote the use of safe transportation options.

The team is conducting thorough inspections of bus companies responsible for student transport, assessing vehicle safety, driver qualifications, and dynamic monitoring systems.
