Guiyangdong Railway Station to complete renovation in June

The upgrading of Guiyangdong Railway Station will be completed by the end of June. As a result, the distance from the front square to the station entrance for passengers approaching by foot will be shortened from over 200 meters to just 50 meters.

Tourism in Guiyang has grown increasingly popular in recent years, leading to a sharp rise in passenger volume at Guiyangdong Railway Station. The average daily number of stopping trains has increased from 58 in 2018 to 148 this year, while the average daily passenger arrivals and departures have surged from 15,000 to 33,000.

To meet the current operational needs, the station has launched a renovation and upgrading project for the front square and surrounding areas to improve its comprehensive services and optimize the travel experience for passengers.

Upon completion, the access road at the entrance of the front square will be expanded into a six-lane road. The passenger drop-off will be just 50 meters from the station entrance, allowing people to walk directly into the station in under a minute.

Over 200 parking spaces for large vehicles will be added in the west square area, and the entrance lanes will be widened from two to four. In addition, waiting zones and unified management will be introduced for private cars and taxis to ease peak-hour congestion.
