Railway passenger flow across Guiyang's three major railway stations remained consistently high during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, hitting record-high passenger volumes.

Guiyangbei Railway Station, Guiyangdong Railway Station, and Guiyang Railway Station dispatched a total of 210,700 passengers on May 5, an increase of 38,700 year-on-year, representing a 22.5 percent growth rate and a new record.

Of the total, Guiyangbei dispatched 148,000 passengers, Guiyangdong 34,200, and Guiyang 35,900.

The three stations recorded a cumulative passenger volume of 1.03 million, with a daily average of 206,200, both record highs.

To cope with the return-travel peak, Guiyang Railway used big data from ticket sales and bookings on the 12306 platform to track passenger flow trends and allocate transport capacity more effectively, adding more than 10 trains on popular routes such as Chengdu, Wuhan, and Zhaotong.

For major return destinations, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chongqing, transport capacity was scaled up through temporary trains and overnight high-speed trains.

Passenger flow on Guiyang's railway network returned to normal levels on May 6, with the railway ready to embrace passenger flow peaks for the 2026 Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 18 to June 21.
