On Sept 1, Gui'an New Area opened the second unmanned bus route in Guizhou province, connecting Tongmuling Station of Guiyang Metro Line 3 with Huaxi University Town in Guiyang.
The new route covers nearly 10 kilometers, running between Exit D of Tongmuling Metro Station and Guizhou City Vocational College and passing through Guizhou University of Finance and Economics East Campus, the Guiyang Institute of Information Science and Technology, and Guizhou Normal University East Campus.
As the largest hub for universities and young scientific and technological innovation talent in the province, Huaxi University Town has a total of 275,000 teachers and students, with high demand for public transit.
"The route covers university-dense areas and transportation hubs, effectively connecting campuses and scenic spots by rail and forming a 'rail transit + unmanned public transportation' network," said a representative of the route operator.
The route operates from 10 am to 12 am and 1 pm to 4 pm from Monday to Friday, with a ticket price of 1 yuan ($0.14) per km. Passengers can purchase tickets online by scanning the station QR code or searching for the Yangyu Bashi mini program on WeChat.
To date, the total operating mileage of the two unmanned bus routes in Huaxi University Town has exceeded 15,000 km, serving over 3,000 people.
