State-owned Guiyang Public Transport Co has launched its first ride reservation service, introducing an app-based micro-circulation bus system for Route V8.
According to company research, Route V8 passes through several large residential and commercial areas, where peak-hour congestion often leads to long wait times and low operational efficiency.
In response to these challenges, Guiyang Qianshuang Urban Public Transportation Co, a subsidiary of Guiyang Public Transport Co, formed a task force to collaborate with the transportation app "Chelaile". Through multiple rounds of discussion, the team explored ways to reduce waiting times and improve transit efficiency.
Based on these discussions, the company decided to pilot a ride reservation system that accurately tracks passenger demand. The goal is to optimize departure intervals and minimize wait times for commuters.
According to Ge Wei, chairman of Guiyang Qianshuang Urban Public Transportation Co, Route V8 now adopts a responsive operational model without fixed departure times, aiming to better meet the personalized travel needs of the public.
Passengers can access the "Chelaile" app, navigate to the Route V8 details page, select a stop marked with the "Ride Reservation" label, input the number of passengers, and then submit their request. After submitting, they can simply wait at the selected stop to board the bus.
Ge said that, previously, passengers had to adjust their schedule based on real-time bus information. With the new reservation feature, the buses can now adjust to passengers' schedules instead.
