Once the Panzhou-Xingyi Railway becomes operational, travel time between Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, and Xingyi will be reduced to about two hours. Guiyang will also reduce the required travel time to all eight prefecture-level cities and autonomous prefectures in Guizhou via high-speed rail to between one and two hours.
Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture recently announced that its Xingyi county-level city will open its high-speed rail service on Nov 30 this year.

The Panzhou-Xingyi Railway is the final project in Guizhou's initiative to connect all its cities via high-speed rail. It will integrate Xingyi into the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway network, enhance national railway connectivity, optimize China's transportation network, and boost interregional connectivity between western Guizhou and other parts of China.
The railway starts from Panzhou Station on the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway. It passes through Shiqiao, Xiangshui, and Baotian towns in Panzhou city before reaching Qingshuihe town in Xingyi city.
The 98-kilometer railway is designed for speeds of 250 km per hour. The project includes the construction of Baotian Station, Xingyi South Station, and Pingjing Track Junction, as well as the renovation of Panzhou Station. Track-laying involves 201 km of dual-track installation, 36 turnouts, and 500,000 cubic meters of ballast placement.
