The 2025 Spring Festival travel rush began on Jan 14, marking the start of 40 days of high passenger traffic. Key transportation hubs in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, including train stations, airports, and bus terminals, are experiencing a surge in travelers.
Guiyang and Gui'an have enhanced capacity in popular tourist areas and scenic spots to ensure smooth transportation services. Authorities are guiding transport operators to launch tourism-focused services, such as dedicated travel routes, direct shuttle buses, and customized passenger lines.
Reporters visited Guiyang High-Speed Rail Passenger Hub and Guiyang North Station, Guizhou's largest railway passenger station, on Jan 14 to observe travel conditions and service measures.
Despite the high volume of passengers, operations were orderly, with streamlined processes for ticket checks, security inspections, and access to waiting areas. Special "green channels" at station entrances and security checkpoints offer expedited services for passengers with urgent departures and priority access for seniors, children, expectant mothers, and individuals with disabilities.
"This year, we expect to handle 3.35 million passengers, averaging 84,000 daily. Passenger traffic will remain high throughout the travel season," a Guiyang North Station official reported.
The Spring Festival travel period at Guiyang Airport is projected to see a passenger throughput of 2.65 million, averaging 66,000 daily, a 2.37 percent increase from last year. The airport is expected to handle 18,500 flights, averaging 463 per day, with peak days seeing up to 490 flights and 75,000 passengers.
