The Guiyang Ring Expressway Expansion project is undergoing final preparations to break ground in June.
That's after a consortium led by Guizhou Expressway Group – in partnership with Guizhou Communications Investment, CCCC Second Highway Engineering Co, CCCC Third Highway Engineering Co and 11 other business entities – secured the contract for the G6002 Guiyang Ring Expressway Expansion Project on Jan 6.
The collaboration is said to highlight a successful partnership between central and local State-owned enterprises (SOEs) and private enterprises – marking a significant step in Guizhou Expressway Group's market-oriented transformation.
With a total investment of 25.38 billion yuan ($3.46 billion), the project spans 104.89 kilometers, including 86.39 km of new construction and 18.5 km of upgrades to the southern section.
With a design speed of 100 km/h, the project features 79 bridges, nine tunnels and 21 interchanges, with a bridge-tunnel ratio of 50.72 percent.
It also includes six connecting roads, two service areas, one parking area and the addition of eight new toll stations, along with upgrades to four existing ones.
Scheduled to break ground in June 2025 and be completed by 2028, the project is expected to enhance regional connectivity, boost economic development and support Guiyang's growing role as a transportation hub in Southwest China.
