Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport reached an historic milestone in 2024 when it handed 22.31 million passengers, a whopping 14.6 percent increase on the previous year.
The surge in passenger traffic is said to have reflected the airport's strong recovery and growth, exceeding 2019's passenger volume by 104.08 percent as of Nov 13 in 2024.
The airport also saw impressive increases in flight operations, with 157,600 flight takeoffs and landings and throughput of 106,600 metric tons of cargo and mail – surpassing the 2023 figures by 9.43 percent and 16.69 percent, respectively.
The peak passenger traffic day occurred on Aug 23, when the airport handled 82,400 passengers, while Aug 16 saw the highest number of daily flight takeoffs and landings.
