Guiyang Rail Transit hit a historic milestone recently. That's when it surpassed 1 million passengers in a single day for the first time on Dec 31, with the total passenger count across the network reaching 1.29 million – a 37.33-percent increase compared with the previous peak level.

All four lines – 1, 2, 3 and S1 – set records in passenger volumes, with stations such as International Eco-Conference Center, Huaguoyuan and Penshuichi leading in passenger flows.

The combined transfer volume at Yan'an West Road station reached an impressive 107,500 passengers on the day.

To ensure smooth operations during the peak holiday period, the transit authority implemented a comprehensive service plan.

Measures included adding 71 extra trains and extending operating hours by 90 minutes, with an additional 30-minute extension on New Year's Eve.

Key stations like International Eco-Conference Center and Penshuichi had their stop times extended to accommodate passenger demand.

Furthermore, improved passenger management and station services were introduced – such as flexible security checks, additional staff guidance and adjustments to escalator and gate operations – ensuring efficient station entry and exit processes.
