The opening ceremony of Guiyang Metro's S1 Line was held at Gui'an Station on Dec 28. This marks Guiyang City's fourth metro line and the first to serve Gui'an New Area.
Spanning 30.32 kilometers, the S1 Line connects key commercial districts, residential areas, scenic spots, and transportation hubs across Guiyang and Gui'an. With 13 stations and a maximum operating speed of 100 km per hour, the entire journey from Zaojiaoba Station to Wangchengpo Station takes approximately 40 minutes.
Among the first passengers was 65-year-old Liu, who traveled with his four-year-old granddaughter. Reflecting on his 30 years of living in Jinzhu town, Huaxi district, Liu recalled how commuting has evolved from cramped minibuses to now finally have a metro. "Seeing this change firsthand, I was overwhelmed with emotion the moment I stepped onto the S1 Line," he said.
The S1 Line also introduces innovations in customer service, restrooms, and facilities for parents with infants.
Unlike traditional metro carriages, the S1 Line thoughtfully accommodates wheelchair users and children. Small stools are provided at each service counter, making the experience more welcoming.
The third restrooms that prioritize accessibility for passengers with mobility challenges are a standout feature. Equipped with automatic doors, adult and child-friendly toilets, sinks, foldable multi-functional tables, child safety seats, and emergency call buttons, they ensure a safer and more comfortable passenger experience.
