On Nov 15, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport celebrated the launch of direct flights to Singapore and Osaka, operated by Tianjin Airlines.
The new routes, starting on Nov 15 and 29, respectively, mark a significant expansion of the international flight network being operated from Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – enhancing the global connectivity of the region.
The Guiyang-Singapore route involves four weekly round trips on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Guiyang-Osaka route operates three weekly round trips on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The flights aim to strengthen Guizhou's role as a regional hub and gateway, while supporting the province's efforts to position itself as a world-class tourism destination and an inland open economy.
Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, a vital "air gateway" for Guizhou, has been experiencing robust growth in the current year. As of Oct 31, it had restored or launched 10 international passenger routes, a year-on-year increase of three.
The airport recorded 1,011 international flight movements during the same period, serving 158,300 passengers – representing massive growth of 298 percent year-on-year.
Additionally, it opened four international cargo routes, achieving an historic level of freight coverage. With 266 flights transporting 4,296 metric tons of cargo during the period, the airport provides crucial support for both inbound tourism and outbound trade.
The addition of the new routes is said to underscore Guiyang's commitment to fostering international exchanges, boosting tourism and facilitating trade – injecting fresh vitality into Guizhou's global ambitions.
