A long-awaited bus service launched on Nov 1 in Wushan village, Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, making public transportation accessible to over 4,000 residents. The event attracted enthusiastic villagers like 82-year-old Du Chaohua, who rallied neighbors to witness the occasion. For many, the arrival of public transportation has ended years of challenging commutes.

Wushan village, 11 kilometers from downtown Guiyang, has long struggled with narrow, uneven roads, leaving villagers to rely on walking, private vehicles, or carpooling. "For years, I've dreamed of riding a bus into the city. I would often walk 40 minutes to the nearest bus stop," Du shared, highlighting this new line's impact, especially for elderly residents.

Guiyang Bus Co worked closely with village authorities, making multiple visits to survey road conditions and consult with residents. Their efforts have culminated in the "Wushan Huimin Special Line", which stops at over 10 locations, including hospitals, shopping centers, and transit hubs. The 9-kilometer route, which operates from early morning, provides villagers convenient access to the city for commuting, shopping, and medical needs.

As the buses departed amid a festive atmosphere, villagers celebrated the newfound connection the service has brought to their lives.
