On Oct 22, 2024, reporters visited the newly upgraded taxi holding area at the west square of Guiyang North Station. Taxis entered the spacious lot in an orderly manner, waiting to serve arriving passengers. Clear signage seamlessly guided travelers to the designated waiting area.

The holding area is equipped with comprehensive signage, an advanced lighting system, and full-coverage surveillance cameras, ensuring both convenience and safety for drivers and passengers.
Taxi driver He Yaobing appreciated the improvements, "The environment here is much better than before. The management is well-organized, making pick-ups and drop-offs much smoother."
Guiyang North Station sees an average of 160,000 passengers daily, with peak days exceeding 250,000. To address the challenges of taxi shortages and disorderly queuing, authorities repurposed an underutilized area near the station's original taxi entrance. The project added seven new taxi lanes and two emergency vehicle lanes to the existing three, significantly increasing the station's taxi capacity.

"The new holding area has expanded taxi capacity from just over 80 vehicles to more than 200, effectively reducing waiting times," said Oulan Yong, a security department staff member.
The facility, which opened during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, accommodates over 3,000 taxi arrivals daily and greatly alleviates traffic congestion during peak hours.
