With the summer travel rush now in full swing, the public transport system in Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is experiencing increased pressure.

The Guiyang Public Transport Co is reporting an average of 836,900 commuters a day, with a total of 17.58 million passengers in July alone.

To address this, Guiyang has implemented targeted measures to ensure smooth operations during the peak season.

Utilizing its "Bus Brain" intelligent scheduling system, the city has optimized route schedules based on train and flight arrival times. Enhanced vehicle dispatching at key hubs and attractions is now ensuring orderly operations during peak times.

What's more, emergency support vehicles and volunteers are being stationed at Guiyang Railway Station and Guiyangbei Railway Station to manage surges in passenger traffic.

Meanwhile, free emergency shuttle services are also available when taxi and ride-hailing capacities fall short at night.

The authorities say that safety remains a top priority, with increased inspections to prevent hazardous materials on buses and rigorous vehicle maintenance checks. Youth volunteers are assisting with passenger guidance and maintaining order at busy stops.

The city's ramped up efforts are also being geared towards supporting major events like international marathons and concerts. Comprehensive transport plans and emergency responses have been prepared, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for all attendees.

Overall, these measures are said to reflect Guiyang's commitment to providing reliable and safe public transport, enhancing the travel experience for residents and tourists alike.
