Guiyang boosts travel network with micro bus route

The new V8 micro-circulation bus route in Guiyang, connecting Houchong Road to Xiaoshizi, is said to have improved travel efficiency and optimized traffic resources.

The micro-circulation bus system aims to enhance connectivity within the 15-minute living circles to amenities of communities in the city – bridging the so-called "last mile" for citizens.

By 2025, Guiyang plans to operate around 40 micro-circulation routes, integrating them into the city's comprehensive transportation network.

According to reports, the flexible and quick route has been well-received by passengers.

Before the launch, operator Guiyang Qianshuang Urban Public Transport Co identified the need for the route due to height restrictions on the City West Overpass, which prevented regular buses from passing.

Smaller buses were chosen for the route, covering areas like Hengfeng Pedestrian Street, the Zhengxin Street Shopping District and parts of Metro Lines 1 and 3.

The V8 route operates every three minutes during peak hours and every 5-10 minutes during off-peak times. In June, the daily average ridership was nearly 1,000, increasing to 1,400 in July.

The new route is understood to have alleviated congestion at stops along the way and improved the overall bus network.

It has also significantly reduced travel times between Huaguoyuan and Xiaoshizi – enhancing access to shops, schools and hospitals.

The transport company plans to open additional micro-circulation routes by the end of the year, including those connecting Huaguoyuan S3 District, Aha Lake Wetland Park, Xiaochehe Wetland Park to Qingyun Market and International City to Dolphin Plaza.

These routes aim to address travel needs in the Future Ark and Dongshan areas, easing urban traffic congestion.
