The completion of the final concrete pouring for the 175-meter section of the eighth pier of the Nanminghe Grand Bridge – a crucial part of the ongoing construction of the Guiyang-Pingtang Expressway – has been hailed as marking a significant step forwards.

It's seen as achieving a milestone in the development of the transportation system in Guiyang, Guizhou province.

The Nanminghe Grand Bridge, managed by the Guizhou Highway Group under Guizhou Construction Engineering Group, is seen as being a pivotal project of the Guiyang-Pingtang Expressway.

Spanning a total length of 1,129.8 meters with the highest pier – or vertical support tower – reaching 175 meters, it is designed as a continuous rigid-frame bridge.

To preserve the ecosystem and environment of the Nanming River, the project includes three-tier sedimentation tanks near towers 8 and 9 for treating construction wastewater like concrete curing water.

This innovative approach aims to allow for the effective recycling of construction water, promoting environmental sustainability.

The bridge contractors say that to date, the project has achieved over 10 micro-innovations, including the development of slope anchor drilling platforms and rigid-frame bridge pier formwork bottom plugging techniques.

There has also been the integrated installation of pier steel frames – with all these innovations showcasing advancements in construction technology and efficiency.
