As the May Day holiday drew to a close on May 5, Guiyang's railway stations witnessed a surge in passenger flow as travelers returned from their holiday trips. To handle the travel demand, railway authorities increased train services and implemented measures to ensure a smooth and safe journey for passengers.
According to passenger traffic data from Guiyang Railway Station, which also oversees Guiyangbei Railway Station and Guiyangdong Railway Station, a total of 163,000 passengers were dispatched on May 5. Among them, Guiyangbei Railway Station served 112,000 passengers, Guiyangdong Railway Station served 17,000 passengers, and Guiyang Railway Station served 34,000 passengers.
This year's May Day holiday spanned from May 1 to 5, while the railway holiday transportation period was extended from April 29 to May 6, encompassing eight days.
Guiyang's railway passenger data from April 29 to May 5 exceeded 1.09 million passengers, marking a 4.2-percent increase compared to the same period last year.
In response to the return travel peak, Guiyang closely monitored passenger flow changes through ticketing data, accurately gauged travel patterns, and arranged additional train services.
