Guiyang ranks 10th in national 'Traffic Health Index'

Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, ranked 10th in the "traffic health index" for the first quarter of this year, according to the 2024 First Quarter China Major Cities Traffic Analysis Report.

The report was released by Gaode Maps, in collaboration with the State Information Center's Big Data Development Department and other institutions, providing a comprehensive evaluation of the traffic conditions in major cities across the country.

This index, pioneered by Gaode Maps and multiple research teams, is a comprehensive evaluation indicator for urban traffic diagnosis. It evaluates a city's "traffic health status" by analyzing big data related to traffic congestion, road network operation status, public transportation efficiency, and other data. The index reflects the degree of closeness that a city's urban traffic operation is to the optimal target. A higher index value indicates that the city's traffic operation is closer to the ideal state.

In the first quarter of this year, the index showed that Xi'an topped the list in the "sub-healthy traffic index", with a traffic health index of 50.69 percent. Following Xi'an are Changsha, Haikou, Lanzhou, Jinan, Chengdu, Beijing, Wuhan, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.

In the traffic health index rankings, Nantong secured the top spot with a traffic health index of 72.23 percent, followed by Shaoxing, Huizhou, Taizhou, Tangshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Ningbo, Xiamen, and Guiyang.

Guiyang's traffic health index is 66.57 percent, with a year-on-year increase of 4.75 percent, following Zhongshan and Dongguan, indicating a continuous improvement in urban traffic conditions.
