Guiyang Metro Line S1 to begin initial operations within the year

Excitement is brewing at Zaojiaoba Station in Gui'an New Area as preparations for the unveiling of Guiyang Metro Line S1 are in full swing.

According to Liang Shuohui, project director from China Railway Construction Group Co, 12 main structures of the Guiyang Metro Line S1 project have been topped, and the earthwork and building structures of the project's parking lot and vehicle depot have been completed. Electrical and mechanical systems are currently undergoing equipment installation and cable laying, with the project expected to commence initial operations within the year.

Phase I of the Guiyang Metro Line S1 project is a vital component of Guiyang's urban rail transit network, comprising two metropolitan express lines. It serves as an accelerator for the integrated development of Guiyang and Gui'an.

Spanning from Zaojiaoba Station in Gui'an New Area, through Huaxi district and the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, and terminating at Wangchengpo Station in Nanming district, the 30.32-kilometer line (22.64 kilometers underground and 7.68 kilometers elevated or at ground level) encompasses a total of 13 stations (11 underground and two elevated).

With an initial investment of 16.9 billion yuan ($2.34 billion), a construction period of four years, and an operational span of 25 years, the project is a pivotal initiative in Guiyang's transportation infrastructure layout.
