On April 6, the last day of the Qingming Festival holiday, Guiyang Railway experienced a peak in return passenger flow. The railway department increased train capacity and implemented measures for passenger convenience, ensuring a safe and smooth return for the many travelers.
On that day, the three major railway stations in Guizhou – Guiyangbei Railway Station, Guiyangdong Railway Station, and Guiyang Station – collectively oversaw the travel of 138,000 passengers, an increase of 41,000 compared to April 5, marking a new high for the same period in previous years. Specifically, Guiyangbei Railway Station sent off 93,000 passengers, Guiyangdong Railway Station sent 23,000, and Guiyang Railway Station sent 22,000.
Statistics from Guiyang Railway Passenger Transport revealed that from April 3 to 6, the three stations in Guiyang sent off a total of 567,000 passengers, averaging 142,000 passengers per day, representing an increase of over 20 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
To manage the peak return flow, Guiyang Railway implemented a peak schedule, closely monitored passenger flow changes, and precisely arranged train capacities. On April 6, over 10 high-speed trains were added between Guiyang North and destinations such as Kaiyang, Zunyi, Tongren, and Chongqing. Multiple trains were also operated on high-speed lines like Guiyang-Guangzhou, Shanghai-Kunming, and Chengdu-Guiyang, adding nearly 10,000 seats in total.
