Flight OD608, carrying a tour group of 162 passengers, landed at the Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport in Southwest China's Guizhou province on March 12, marking the first chartered tour from Malaysia to Guizhou after the countries mutually exempted visa requirements.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the flight route between Guiyang and Kuala Lumpur route was suspended in 2020. Now, it is operated once every Tuesday from March 12.

The tour group will stay seven nights and eight days in Guizhou and will visit attractions such as Gui'an Cherry Blossom Park, Tianhetan scenic spot, Qingyan Ancient Town, and Qingyun Market in Guiyang; Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun; Xiaoqikong scenic spot in Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture; and Wanfenglin scenic spot, Wanfeng Lake, and Malin River Canyon in Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture.

Guizhou Qianlai Shike Travel Agency is responsible for guiding the tour group. Since the end of November last year, it had signed a tourism charter contract with Malindo Air and reached a charter sales cooperation agreement with two local travel agencies in Kuala Lumpur. At the same time, in order to promote spring tourism in Guizhou, promotional activities were organized in Malaysia, such as the one for Gui'an Cherry Blossom Park. Zhang Bo, the general manager of the travel agency, said that more than 2,000 Malaysian tourists have already signed up to join the chartered trip to Guizhou.

Jiang Zhuwei, the general manager of the aviation marketing department of Guizhou Civil Aviation Industry Group Co, said that in 2024, besides the stable operation of the flight routes to Bangkok and Phuket Island, the group plans to prioritize the resumption of flights to Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, Macao, and Taipei.

It will resume flights to Singapore and Cambodia orderly, and expand flight routes to European cities through layovers and transfers. As of now, Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport has resumed four international flight routes: Guiyang-Bangkok, Guiyang-Phuket Island, Guiyang-Kuala Lumpur, and Guiyang-Pudong-Osaka.
