Pier 8 of the Nanming River Bridge on the Guiyang-Pingtang Expressway was topped out on Jan 20.
This remarkable feat was accomplished 10 days ahead of schedule, laying a solid foundation for the full opening of the expressway.
The Nanming River Bridge stands as one of the pivotal engineering marvels of the expressway. It spans a total length of 1,129.8 meters, with a maximum span of 180 meters. It has a towering height of 175 meters, and its foundation piles are 45 meters deep. It is slated for completion and connection by the end of January 2025.
"To safeguard the environment beneath the bridge, we have implemented a three-tier sedimentation system within the bridge structure." explained Zhu Can, a technical personnel of the expressway construction project.

"This system allows for the sedimentation of construction wastewater, which is then recycled for the curing of the bridge's concrete, achieving a circular and environmentally friendly use of construction water." Zhu added.
The Guiyang-Pingtang Expressway runs from Guiyang city to Pingtang county. The route originates from Yangchang Town in Wudang district of Guiyang and terminates at Yunyangguan in Pingtang.
With a total length of 174.02 kilometers and a designed speed of 100 kilometers per hour, this expressway is set to significantly enhance transportation efficiency and boost economic development along the route.
