Railway stations in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently ushered in the first round of transportation season due to the beginning of summer vacation.

On July 1-10, the three major railway stations in Guiyang sent 1.21 million passengers, an average of 120,700 daily passengers. It's a 23 percent increase compared to the same period last year and marked the highest record in history for the same period.

"The railway summer transportation season started on July 1 and will end on Aug 31, totaling 62 days," said a Guiyang Railway Station staff member. Since then, the railway stations in Guiyang have experienced rapid growth in passenger flow, mainly consisting of college students, tourists, people visiting family and friends, and business travelers.

The first round of transportation season is estimated to continue until around the end of July. During this period, the majority of outbound passengers will be headed towards cities such as Chongqing, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Guilin, and Kunming, while the majority of passengers traveling within the province will go to cities including Liupanshui, Anshun, Zunyi, Duyun, Kaili, Tongren, and Bijie.

From the end of July to mid-August, there will be a second round with tourism and family visits as the majority. From late August to early September, most of the third round will be students to school and travelers returning home.

To cope with the large volume of passengers during the summer, the Guiyang railway authority has adjusted the trains in operation by adding more high-speed and regular trains to meet the increasing travel needs.

The railway stations in the city have improved passenger flow management during peak hours and established green channels for priority access for groups such as senior residents, people with disabilities, pregnant women, and children. Essential services such as air conditioning, catering, and water supply have been optimized to provide more convenience for passengers.
