Three major railway stations in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, set new records in terms of passenger traffic during the five-day travel rush from June 21-25 due to the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.
Guiyang, Guiyang North, and Guiyang East railway stations saw 627,000 passengers in total, an increase of 78.9 percent year-on-year. Passenger traffic at Guiyang North and Guiyang East railway stations accounted for 86.12 percent of the total.
The surge in volume stemmed from several factors, according to Guiyang Railway Station.

First, as the domestic consumer market is experiencing an accelerated recovery, travel demand during the Dragon Boat Festival on June 22-24 grew stronger.
Second, the high-speed railway network is expanding and offers safe, comfortable, convenient, and efficient travel to become the first choice for more people; while the railway authority made extensive preparations ahead of the holiday.
During those five days, the Guiyang railway authority added 40 high-speed rail and ordinary speed trains to run between Guiyang North Railway Station and Chongqing, Liupanshui and Zunyi, to meet the needs of travellers.
