Guiyang advances construction of smart parking lots

Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been promoting the construction of smart parking lots in recent years to alleviate parking problems in the city.

He Zixiang, head of the parking lot special office of the Guiyang Transportation Committee, said that a smart three-dimensional parking garage can park at least three times more cars than a conventional parking lot of the same size.

To solve the problem of exit congestion caused by parking fee payment in parking lots, Guiyang has optimized the functions of non-stop payment and post-departure payment so as to save vehicle exit time and improve the efficiency of parking space utilization. 

Since 2020, Guiyang Smart Parking Industry Investment and Development Co has built a number of public parking lots and smart parking lots near schools, hospitals, farmers' markets and traffic transfer sites. 

It built 19 new smart parking lots on Qingyun Road, Shahe Street, Minzhu Road, and Tongxin East Road, adding about 9,000 new public parking spaces.

"The construction of smart parking lots is conducive to the smart city infrastructure construction and comprehensive management and operation in Guiyang, truly realizing the digital management of parking, alleviating urban congestion and improving the value of parking lots," said He.
