Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has promoted the application of big data in intelligent transportation and optimized the allocation of transportation resources and traffic management in recent years.

Since the Guiyang traffic police established a traffic situation research and judgment platform in 2022, the platform has improved the operational efficiency and management of the traffic system, alleviated traffic congestion, reduced the incidence of traffic accidents, and helped build a safe, smooth and orderly traffic environment by combining high tech with traffic information and traffic engineering technology.

Last year, Guiyang's traffic congestion index during rush hour decreased 16.91 percent.

The city's traffic police have also collected holographic information from intersections, combined internet data, and applied artificial intelligence technology to coordinate and control traffic lights.

It has also scientifically implemented the coordinated timing control of green lights on trunk lines, and set regional control strategies during peak hours. While optimizing the timing of intersection traffic lights, it has also improved the traffic efficiency of intersections and ensured the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

To date, the Guiyang traffic police have implemented coordinated green-light timing control during peak hours on Changling Road, Renmin Avenue, and Zhonghua Road.

Guiyang has also put Zhuyingxing – a public transportation intelligent service platform, into use. The platform is at the forefront of efforts to transform taxi digital service platforms in the country.

With the help of on-board IoT devices and in-vehicle QR codes, the platform provides data monitoring of operating vehicles in the city, real-time scheduling of vehicle personnel, and timely warning of abnormal conditions, helping manage big data in traditional taxis.
