The passenger throughput of Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, increased 5.2 percent year-on-year to 1.82 million during the 2023 Spring Festival travel rush, from Jan 7 to Feb 15.

The passengers were mainly migrant workers, students, visiting family, business people and travelers between Guiyang and the cities of Hangzhou, Wenzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Shanghai and Quanzhou in East China, Shenzhen in South China, and Beijing in North China.

The airport continued to optimize its anti-icing and emergency support systems, as well as carried out winter safety hazard investigations and rectifications. It also did safety facility and equipment applicability inspections, and winter ice and snow removal emergency training drills to ensure the safety of airport operation during this period.

With the continuous increase of passengers, the commercial sector of the airport terminals also saw a surge in sales, with the main sales attributed to Guizhou's famous and high-quality specialties, tourist products, clothing, handicrafts and food.
