The three major railway stations in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, transported 3.77 million passengers during the 2023 Spring Festival travel rush from Jan 7 to Feb 15, an increase of 18.2 percent over the same period in 2022.

The passengers were mainly composed of migrant workers, students, travellers and business people going to Jinhua, Yiwu, Shanghai and Nanjing in East China, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Chongqing in South China, as well as Liupanshui, Zunyi, Bijie, Anshun, Kaili, and Tongren within the province.

The travel peak occurred on Feb 7 and 11, when Guiyang, Guiyang North and Guiyang East railway stations each transported an average of 120,000 passengers.

To cope with the surging travel needs, the three railway stations added 20 round-trip high-speed and ordinary-speed trains between Guiyang and the cities of Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Liupanshui and Zunyi. This allowed for the rail transportation capacity to increase by over 10,000 passengers per day.
