Some sections of the Guiyang-Nanning Railway, which connects capital cities in Southwest China's Guizhou province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, began static acceptance checks on Feb 10.
Having started construction in December 2017, the 482-kilometer railway is the first high-speed railway in Guangxi with a design speed of 350 km per hour, and once completed, it will become an important part of China's high-speed railway network.
According to the construction schedule, the static acceptance of the rail maintenance and repair, power supply, communications, signals, disaster monitoring, building construction, earthing system, construction land, and environmental protection engineering will be completed before March 15. By the end of May, the firefighting equipment, elevators and archives will also have finished inspection processes.
The high-speed railway is expected to open to the public within the year, shortening the journey between Nanning and Guiyang to two hours instead of the current five hours.
This will further promote the integrated development of culture, economy and transportation among ethnic groups in Southwest China.
