Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has achieved strong development over the past decade, according to the Guiyang Transportation Committee.

Developing major external channels

Guiyang has built several high-speed railways with a total mileage of 360 kilometers and formed a high-speed railway network connecting the metropolises of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Chengdu.

The city's Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport ranks among the country's 20 million-level airports, launching 234 domestic routes and 21 international routes to 136 cities.

The city has built 13 external highways, and the total mileage of highways within the city has reached 635 km.

Improving urban road network

The road network in the central urban area has been continuously optimized. The total mileage of urban roads is nearly 2,200 km, the road network density is 6.2 km per square km, and the per capita road area is about 13.2 square meters.

Expanding urban public transportation

Guiyang has put the Guiyang-Kaiyang Intercity Railway, metro lines 1 and 2, and the loop-line of the Guiyang urban express railway into operation. The construction of the first phase of Guiyang metro line 3, S1 and the first phase of tram line T2 has been accelerated.

The city has also opened 17 urban bus rapid transit lines and 361 bus lines with an average daily passenger volume of about 1.18 million. There are 3,244 buses in operation and 3,935 bus stops. About 19,000 taxis across the province transport 770,000 passengers every day on average.

Early in July 2021, Guiyang was awarded the honorary title of national demonstration city of public transport development by the Ministry of Transport.

Building transport hubs

Comprehensive transport hubs such as the Guiyang North Railway Station, Guiyang East Railway Station, Guian High-speed Railway Station, Jinyang Coach Station, and Longdongbao Airport High-speed Railway Station have been built to connect the airport and high-speed rails in the city.

The city has also sped up the construction of the Gaimao Rail Port and the Guiyang Dulaying International Land-Sea Logistics Port. The Guiyang National Land Port made the list of national logistics hubs in 2020.
