Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has made progress in traffic congestion control after more than nine months of comprehensive management.

According to traffic big data of third-party data platform Baidu Map, the city ranked 11th in January, 22nd in February, 10th in March, 16th in April, 12th in May and 18th in June in the national key cities' traffic congestion ranking.

The Guiyang Public Security Bureau has increased its police force around schools and vital traffic hubs during rush hours and maintained traffic order to minimize the impact of road violations, traffic accidents, and vehicle failures on road traffic.

The city has boosted the development of public transportation, focusing on solving problems in public transportation and improving people's experience. It has accelerated the development of an urban public transportation system revolving around rail transportation, buses, and other modes of transportation.

It has launched 125 customized public transportation routes in cooperation with local schools, companies and government agencies.

Guiyang has also worked to better organize traffic with more reasonable separation and diversion of vehicles and pedestrians at intersection and by setting up traffic signs.

Since the beginning of this year, Guiyang has adjusted the separation and diversion of vehicles and pedestrians at 123 intersections, adjusted more than 650 traffic lights, and added or adjusted over 1,100 traffic signs.
