Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has undertaken a range of measures to help the transportation sector fully recover from the COVID-19 epidemic.
The city has implemented 28 municipal-level policies, including six concerning the transportation industry.
According to the Guiyang Transportation Service Center, 66 taxi companies and 24 online car-hailing platforms in the city have benefitted from a preferential policy for value-added tax exemptions.
Financial institutions in the city have been encouraged to increase their funding support for transport companies with high credit ratings and heavy burdens related to epidemic prevention measures and controls, according to the director of the Guiyang Transportation Service Center.
The Guiyang Transportation Committee has also assisted shipbuilding and shipping companies to solve their difficulties.
Last year, Guiyang issued fuel subsidies totaling more than 240,000 yuan ($35,983) to the operators of 33 rural passenger ships and more fuel subsidies will be issued.
To promote the development of the shipping industry in the Goupitan Reservoir section of the Wujiang River, the committee has also coordinated with the Guizhou Department of Transportation and the Guizhou Wujiang River Waterway Administration to help shipping companies and ship owners apply for vessel retrofits and transport grants and funding.
