A China-Europe freight train carrying 50 standard containers departed from the Guiyang Dulaying International Land-Sea Logistics Port in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, for Budapest in Hungary on May 18.
Five containers of rubber products arrived in Guiyang from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, with Guiyang serving as the transfer point.
The goods from Vietnam are now being transported via the China-Europe freight train to countries like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Romania, and are expected to arrive in Budapest in half a month.
This is the first time that goods from southern Vietnam have traveled to Europe through the China-Laos Railway. The move is in response to the rising cost of sea freight.
The successful connection between the China-Laos Railway and the China-Europe freight train line tested Chinese, Vietnamese and Lao customs' adaptability to the RCEP agreement.
Wei Hongyu, an official of Zhucheng customs, affiliated to Guiyang Customs, explained that the combination of the China-Laos Railway and the China-Europe freight train in Guizhou was a new international logistics channel for the city of Guiyang and the province of Guizhou.
Next, Guizhou will further promote the stable connection between the China-Laos Railway and the China-Europe freight trains to develop an international logistics transportation mode with Vientiane as the Southeast Asian distribution center and Guiyang as the domestic distribution center.
