The latest batch of 40 electric buses recently started operating in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
Old buses running on route numbers 10, 12 and 16 were replaced with the new arrivals by operator Guiyang Public Transport Group Co.
The new energy buses have a distinctive aerodynamic design, feature a low running noise and have 32 seats, compared with 21 seats in the old buses.

According to Zhou Kaimin, general manager of Guiyang Public Transport Group Co, the new buses are more energy saving, reliable, powerful and comfortable – which will increase passengers' comfort and help alleviate road congestion caused by previous bus breakdowns.
Zhou said the arrival of the new buses underscored the rapid roll-out of new energy vehicles in the city.
In the current year, with 267 new energy buses due to go into operation, the entire fleet of buses in Guiyang will be new energy and clean energy vehicles – in a development expected to bring a greener, safer and more reliable travel experience to the public.
"Guiyang Public Transport Group Co will increase its efforts to improve public transport infrastructure and improve our services and bus driver capabilities," Zhou added.
