With the arrival of the summer vacation, the volumes of passengers using the two metro lines in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has increased significantly.
The average daily passenger volume of the Guiyang metro line network in early July – as of July 7 – reached 332,000. That represented an increase of 8.3 percent from June, with more students having started their summer vacations and tourist numbers swelling.
On July 9 alone, the passenger volume hit 384,500, breaking the previous record of 381,500 on April 30 and setting a new high for single-day passenger flows.
Transport hub stations including Guiyang North Railway Station and Guiyang Railway Station, as well as stations in densely populated areas such as Beijing Road Station and Yangming Ancestral Temple Station, have seen obvious increases in daily passenger amounts.
The average daily transfer volumes at interchange stations has also increased significantly. Taking Penshuichi Station and Lincheng West Road Station as examples, the two stations transferred an average 41,000 and 23,300 passengers every day, respectively in early July – up 9.1 percent and 13.1 percent compared with that of June.
At present, the transportation capacity of Metro Lines 1 and 2 can still meet passenger demand.
