Construction is underway at the Caijiaguan No 1 tunnel, a vital control project on the Taijin Line in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

According to the person in charge of the construction unit, the tunnel's geological conditions have significant variability, so advanced geological forecasting and radar have been adopted to assess the various geological risks.

Instead of drilling and mechanical excavation, the tunnel will be created using explosives. The blasting plan is currently being formulated, according to the head of construction.

Two hundred meters of excavation work has been completed on the right line of the Caijiaguan No 1 tunnel, while 134 meters of the left line have been excavated.
