Xifeng county releases three measures to regulate transport sector

Updated: 2020-11-26

The transportation bureau of Xifeng county in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has released three significant measures to regulate the transport sector.

First, the bureau has strengthened road maintenance and management. With an investment of 414.69 million yuan ($63.24 million), the county completed 414 kilometers of large and medium repairs to county and township roads, specifically the widening of narrow streets. It also implemented disaster prevention projects and reconstructed eight dangerous bridges stretching 144 meters.

The transport bureau also invested 80.65 million yuan in road safety projects. The county is currently exploring a new management mechanism for the administration and maintenance of rural roads.

Second, the bureau has strengthened the protection of road property rights. It has increased publicity of the rule of law for people living along the highway, the owners of freight vehicles and drivers. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the county charged a road property compensation fee of 800,000 yuan.

Control measures have also been put in place to address the issues of overloaded vehicles and road dust. From 2016 to 2020, 609 cargo container elevation boards were ordered to be removed, and a compensation fee of 120,000 yuan for road dust pollution was charged.

Finally, the bureau has made efforts to maintain the transportation market's stability, cooperating with other departments to crack down on illegal operations. From 2016 to 2020, 550 vehicles suspected of illegally operating were temporarily impounded, with a fine of 2.8 million yuan in total.
